We like to think we have the ideal location for a club Sailing Section like ours. At the lowest point of Sandy Lane a few hundred metres upstream from the Canoe Section and Clubhouse is our Dinghy Park. From here you can sail for two miles upstream through picturesque countryside with no obstacles. The river gradually narrows and becomes more twisty but is still suitable for sailing with the wind in the right direction.
The river itself does occasionally get high enough to flow over the weir downstream causing the current to flow up the river. This rarely causes a problem for sailing but adds to the interest in navigating our waters.
On the edge of the river in the Dinghy Park is our Training Room . It is equipped for training to RYA standards. Also housed here are the female changing room, toilets and shower and an accessible toilet. Facing the river is the race office which provides commanding views both up and down river. The well equipped galley enables catering and a bar provides for social activities.
A separate block houses the male changing room, toilets and showers.
There is storage for several dinghies, canoes, kayaks and SU Paddleboards in the Dinghy Park for members only and subject to a subscription fee.
Two slipways and a gently sloping foreshore complete the picture.
