Our team have worked really hard, with Imperial IT to create a new website for Chester Sailing and Canoeing Club.

Congratulations to the 14 members who successfully completed the RYA First Aid Course, a one-day course held at the CSCC

About Our Sailing Club

We like to think we have the ideal location for a club like ours. We are based on the River Dee about 1 mile from the City Centre, at the top of Sandy Lane. We can be a little hard to find- look for a grey gate set back from the road at the top of Sandy Lane with a small sign shortly after the Mount Inn.

We have our own club-house with bar, boat storage, changing rooms, showers and a number of adjustable slalom gates for our Canoeists.

The river is deep & wide here and you can sail for 2 miles upstream through picturesque countryside with no obstacles. The river gradually narrows and becomes more twisty but is still suitable for sailing with the wind in the right direction. Another plus is that upstream of the club there is very little boat traffic – with the exception of the rowers!

The river itself does occasionally get high enough to flow over the weir downstream causing a current but this rarely causes a problem for sailing, but on the other hand it almost never freezes, so we can’t complain.

Further upstream is our Dinghy Park. Located on an ideal stretch of the river opposite the Meadows it provides all the facilities needed for you to sail in an idyllic setting.

Our Training room is equipped to aid training to RYA standards. Also housed here are the ladies changing room, toilets and showers while facing the river our race office provides commanding views both up and down river. A separate block houses the gents changing room, toilets and showers.

We have storage for several dinghy’s in the park for members and berth fees are minimal. Two slipways and a gently sloping foreshore.
